– FATHER BURNT HIS DAUGHTER’S PRIVATE PART AND FACE IN LAGOS

A 45-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by the police for dealing cruelly with his five-year-old daughter. The resident of Kayode Toyeso-Liasu Road, Ikotun, in Lagos, Surakat Idowu, allegedly burnt his daughter’s face and private parts with a hot iron, after she spilled faeces he had told her to dispose into a latrine at the back of the house.

The 45-year-old father had separated from his wife since 2013 and taken custody of their child.

Neighbours saw the badly burnt part of the nursery pupil’s face and decided to report the incident to the police.

“He (the father) began to beat her with the hot surface of the iron until the girl’s face became swollen. We tried to caution him, but he would not listen,” a witness, identified only as Basirat, said.

The police said the matter will be investigated.
