Identical twin brothers jailed for brutal attack on 15-year-old boy

Identical twin brothers jailed for brutal attack on 15-year-old boy

CRIME – Twin brothers who were part of a gang of six who stabbed and beat a 15-year-old boy were on Friday, March 31, sentenced to almost ten years in prison.

The six teenagers were found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent at Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, 14 February.

Taylor Joseph, 18, of Ewen Crescent, Brixton was jailed on for five years. His twin brother Brandon Joseph, 18, was jailed for four and a half years.

Also on 31 March, two 16-year-old teenage boys – one from Penge, the other from Brixton – were jailed for four years, and a 16-year-old male from Clapham received a two year suspended sentence. A 17-year-old male from Streatham is yet to be sentenced.

On 3 October 2015, police were called to Hardel Walk, SW2 to reports of a stabbing. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 15-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim was at a birthday party attended by family members and young children in Hardel Walk and was playing on the street with his friends when they were approached by a large group of youths armed with weapons, some wearing face masks.

Most of the victim’s friends ran back into the address, but the victim tried to flee but was chased. The group caught up with him and asked him where he was from before one of the group punched him in the face. The victim ran away again, but he was tripped up and struck with baseball bats, poles and knives whilst on the ground. A driver sounded a car horn and distracted the attackers who then fled.
The victim ran back towards the address he came from, collapsing from his injuries in a stairwell. He was helped by members of the public. The victim suffered stab wounds to his leg, arm and back and sustained a punctured lung, punctured stomach and several other wounds.

He needed two operations and spent ten days in hospital. He required rehabilitative treatment in the months afterwards and still has nerve damage in his shoulder.

Officers immediately started making enquiries in the nearby area and quickly established that a number of weapons had been deposited at a different party being held nearby. Two of the eight knives seized were later found to have the victim’s blood on them.

Officers took control of that party and filtered out more than 120 teenagers, and subsequently identified witnesses, CCTV and forensic evidence.

Several people provided police with accounts of what happened and on 9 October 2015, a number of suspects were arrested.

In July 2016, eight people were charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. All were aged between 14 and 16 at the time of the attack. The trial commenced at Inner London Crown Court started on 4 January 2017.

After a six-week trial, on Tuesday, 14 February, six of the suspects were unanimously convicted. DC Danni Wilgoss of Brixton CID said:
“This was a brutal and callous attack that, were it not for the quick actions and expertise of paramedics and the aid from members of the public, could have resulted in the loss of a teenage boy’s life.

“Those who carried out this attack did so for no apparent reason other than the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They took shelter in numbers and showed a total disregard for the safety – and life – of the victim.

“An investigation is only ever as good as those who step forward to assist and I want to pay tribute to the witnesses who were extremely brave to provide evidence.

“I also want to pay tribute to the victim who has shown remarkable bravery and tenacity since the incident. His positive attitude is admired by my colleagues and I alike.

“This case demonstrated that the local community will not stand for such violence. It was a painstaking investigation which shows that the Met is committed to vigorously pursuing anyone who commit such act”

BREAKING: Twenty people murdered at Pakistan shrine

Twenty murdered at Pakistan shrine

PAKISTAN – Twenty people have been murdered and others wounded at a Sufi shrine near the city of Sargodha, in Pakistan’s Punjab province, police say.

Deputy police commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta said the main suspect was the shrine’s custodian, Abdul Waheed.

One survivor told police Mr Waheed had called followers into his chamber one by one, and gave them poisoned food.

He and his companions then killed them with a dagger and a stick.

“As they kept arriving, they were torturing and murdering them,” Mr Chattha told Pakistan’s Geo TV.
The alarm was raised by an injured woman who was among several victims who managed to escape.
Local police then rushed to the shrine and arrested Mr Waheed, along with several others believed to be his accomplices.

The motive is unclear, but one senior local police officer said the suspect appeared to be mentally unstable, and that the killings could be related to rivalry for control of the shrine.

“The 50-year-old shrine custodian Abdul Waheed has confessed that he killed these people because he feared that they had come to kill him,” Zulfiqar Hameed told AFP news agency.

Pervaiz Haider, a hospital doctor, said most of the victims were hit on the back of the neck.

“There are bruises and wounds inflicted by a club and dagger on the bodies of victims,” he told Reuters news agency.

According to a survivor, the alarm was raised by children who had witnessed the violence through a door. Adult devotees then attacked the suspects.

Reports suggest the victims may have been pilgrims. Police said it was customary for food to be distributed at the shrine during the first week of Rajab, a sacred month of the Islamic calendar which began at the end of March.

Sufism is a mystical branch of Islam which spread throughout the Indian subcontinent in the 13th Century.

Sufis believe in saints, who they say can intercede for them directly with God. Several million Muslims in Pakistan are believed to follow Sufism’s tenets.

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspects who specialise in tricking sellers of expensive mobile phones, by pretending to be online buyers and thereafter rob the sellers at the point of delivery.
The suspects, Wilfred Ehis, 30; Bright Eloho, 24, Emeka Egbemedu, 22 and Olanrewaju Kamilu, 33, were arrested on Wednesday evening in Olamulti Hotel, New Site, Iba, Ojo, Lagos.
The RRS operatives, working on reports from victims of the same robbery perpetrated by the gang, had tracked Ehis and his gang to a location in Iba. On March 7, 2017, the gang shot one Sgt. Garba Kadiri while trying to evade arrest in Pretty Street, Iyana School, LASU-Iyana Road.

According to Ehis, a Chemical Engineering graduate of University of Benin, Benin, Edo State:

“What I do is shop online for expensive phones and goods. I request the sellers to make home delivery. I would send the delivery address to the seller, when the seller gets to the address, he would call me and I would control my boys to go to the delivery address and rob the seller.”

He stressed:

“That is my role. I shop online, send the delivery address to the seller and make sure he is at the delivery address, then control the boys to collect the ordered items from him. I don’t follow them to the robbery scene. It is only Nurudeen, alias “Onyeabo” that I know carry out the execution. I know he has a locally made short-gun and I am aware he had recruited other boys to join him in the robbery….

“All I do is stay in hotels. I don’t even go out at all. I am always indoor. They do the robbery, sell the phones and give me my own share of the deal. Nurudeen is always in hiding. He doesn’t come outside since SARS, Lagos picked up his closest friend last year. He is short in size and he sneaks into Lagos mostly at night through the creeks from Ogun State,” he disclosed.
Sources stated that Ehis has several gangs who do his runs for him. The source added that he was into internet fraud and ATM point robbery. The source added that, Ehis before his arrest stood at different ATM points in Igando, Ojo, Alaba and Apapa to monitor ATM users, who withdrew money. From there he controlled his gangs who operate on mostly motorcycles (okada) to trail the withdrawers and collect the money from them.

After his arrest, about five victims from Computer Village in Ikeja have besieged RRS headquarters to give information about the operation of the gang.

Two of such victims who came forward on Thursday were Oluwaseyi Sunday and Alabede Habib. Both of them in separate statement stated that Wilfred Ehis, pretending as Barrister Deji, had sometime in February 2017 requested that expensive phones be delivered to him on two different addresses on LASU-Iyana Iba Expressway. The victims were later robbed by three of Ehis’s gang members operating on motor cycle at the delivery points. The sellers claimed they lost N800,000:00 and N450,000:00 in the robbery.

Items recovered from Ehis when he was arrested were a Tecno CQ phone, an LG 3 Phone; One I mobile phone; 2 Wrist watches, a Canon camera Eo87D; 1 neck lace, 1 Sony laptop, a rap of Indian Hemp and an ash colour Altima salon car with the registration No. APP 493 EH.
